A Month? What?!

I can’t believe I’m writing this…Tanner will be FOUR WEEKS old tomorrow! What? Where did that month go? I know how fast the time goes with a child. My “baby” is three. But I think it’s a doube wammy with two. My day is so full and I am finding it hard to imagine that we’ve already reached the one month mark with Tanner. Wow. He’s so amazing and Dan and I both are soaking in the moments with him. It’s just crazy how fast it all goes! We have so many wonderful moments coming with each passing month no doubt. It’s just hard to believe he’s been 30 days…

One Word: Naps

I am an avid believer in the power of a nap. Getting a little snooze in sometime during the day can make all the difference in the world. I’m obviously experiencing a lack of sleep due to having our sweet lil’ Tanner here now. But, thankfully, when he does wake for those nighttime feedings he eats and goes back to sleep. Catching a nap during the day though helps so much! Evan still naps and today was one of those days where he seemingly slept forever. He needed it. We had a couple of very late nights this week for him due to hanging out at a friend’s campsite. He had so much fun and wore himself right out but he sure did need some extra sleep. With newborns sleeping as much as they do, I have been able to nap when Evan naps since Tanner is sleeping anyway. Today was one of those days! Yes. I am taking full advantage of this right now. My dishes can wait. Getting adequate rest is a good thing. So until Tanner is on a daily routine and not sleeping at random I plan on napping whenever I can. Ahhhh…

Pump Up The Fun…

I knew we’d have some interesting moments having a newborn and a 3-year-old in the house. There’s lots of new “gear” with a newborn. One such thing is the breast pump. Evan saw the “horns” on the counter and decided to give them a try. The funny part is that they really are called horns! I guess he knew that… =)

Life On Hamilton…

Tanner will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. I honestly feel like we brought him home just a couple of days ago. Time with children goes so quickly! It’s amazing.

Life on Hamilton Avenue is pretty darned good right now. At the moment, Tanner is snoozing beside me in his bassinet and Evan is taking his nap too. The house is quiet except for my washer and dryer.

Having a baby in the house is a wonderful thing and I’m really enjoying this new phase of life. My day is filled with lots of activity having two young ones. Having a 3-year-old, Evan is pretty much his own little person and can do a lot for himself, which is a plus. He not only can do those little things for himself but he pretty much insists on it. Mr. Independent.

You’re never fully prepared for having a child in the beginning and the same goes with adding another one to the mix. You hope for the best. And so far I can speak from my heart and say it’s lovely. I feel overwhelemed with God’s goodness in my life and I can’t help but smile. I am amazed at how much God loves me and gives us the desires of our hearts!

So today you’d find me basking in the blessings and counting myself as one lucky lady.

Can I say it enough? LIFE IS GOOD!!

And Then There Were Two!

It’s official. I’m a mommy of two amazing boys! My heart is full and overflowing with gladness. Our sweet Tanner was born at 2:55 a.m. on July 4, 2008. It was a hard and fast labor but so worth it. Look what I got to bring home!

So far he’s a very good baby. He likes to eat and sleep. But for a bit of time a day he’ll open his eyes and look around. That’s my favorite time. His eyes are so bright and I can’t look at him enough. What a treasure we’ve been given.

Evan is adjusting well to having Tanner in the house. He talks to him and loves to kiss and hold him. So far there has been no jealousy or fighting for mom and dad’s attention.

My little world is just right. I have the love of the sweetest man and two incredible sons…wow.

Sooner Rather Than Later!

Today, I had my LAST ob/gyn appointment! It wasn’t scheduled that way, but when I went in and my midwife checked me I was told that I was dilated 4 cm and my cervix was 90% effaced!! Wow! I definitely wasn’t expecting that! So now it’s just a matter of waiting. It’s such a relief to know that things are actually progressing. Dan and I are beyond excited to see our baby boy! If I don’t go into labor before Wednesday, the 9th, we’re going in to have my water broken. I’m okay with this. I was nervious about induction but my midwife said because my body is so ready for delivery that breaking the water should be the only thing they need to do to get things rolling. No induction drugs, which I’m happy about. But of course we are hoping and praying that Tanner makes his entrance before next Wednesday!

It’s so amazing to think that our new son will be here in less than a week! Almost surreal. I cannot wait to hold him and snuggle with him. Seeing our two children together for the first time is going to be nothing short of amazing to witness. Wondering what exactly Evan will be thinking, seeing the look on his face. It’s all going to be so cool!

Hopefully the next time I blog I will be able to attach a picture of Tanner!
